I’m always on the lookout for fun ways to feel the burn. And while I may not trade in my routine for the equipment below, I wouldn’t be oppose to trying them out.
Part bicycle , part elliptical, the Outdoor Elliptical Bike from StreetStrider allows users to get the benefit of cycling, running, and the elliptical all in one. According to the company website, the machine is easy on joints but forces the user to exert more energy to control it. It works not only the lower body, but upper and core. Sounds pretty sweet, right?
It’s pricey ($799-$1,599), like any major piece of equipment. But you can use it indoors or outside. It also comes in an array of colors and models. And if biking around on a tricyclesque contraption is too pre-school for you, checkout the bikes at ElliptiGO. They tote similar benefits, but use two wheels instead of three.
Maybe jumping jacks are more your speed? Jump Boots($249) look like funky rollerblades, but they’re really like mini trampolines attached to your feet.
They’re toteable, easy to store and give users a plyometric workout. Check out Kim and Kourtney K getting their bounce on.
I’m skeptical of a machine that claims I can just stand by while it does the work. The Crazy Fit Massager can help tone and lengthen muscles, according to the website. But I haven’t read any reports that back up the claim.
At $299, I don’t see myself running out to buy one, but if it appears at my gym tomorrow I still might give it a wiggle.
Let me know which machine you’d try out. My vote is on the bike. I’m not above training wheels.

Unless there is solid research behind these new machines and fitness trends I skip them and stick to the tried and true.
Come on, you wouldn’t give the shoes a try? lol:)
I saw that StreetStrider bike on the Today Show a few days ago. I’m not sure if I would actually use it, but I think it’s a nice idea and I love how low-impact elliptical machines are.
The jump boots are awesome. They are something I would for sure use – what a great workout! My butt would be perfection in a few months!
That’s how I learned about the StreetStrider, lol. If I could afford it I would buy it. I’d try the shoes too, but not that vibrating machine. That one is just too weird.
The jump boots look really fun!
