I am not a hot gym girl. I wish I was, but alas, no matter how many cute workout shorts my boyfriend buys me I still favor baggy black pants and a long white tee.
I don’t like wearing spandex. I feel too risque running in just a sports bra. And while I commend those who have the guts to wear whatever they want to the gym, I’m just not that gal who can crunch with my sh!t out for the world to see.
Contrary to popular opinion, the gym is not an official meat market. It really is to workout. And if you’re not into wearing coochie-shorts when you go to Spin class, there are still options for you.

What do you wear to the gym?

My gym inform is super basic, shorts and a t shirt
Cut off black sweatshirt, black tshirt underneath, basketball shorts, sneakers. Basically old school look for hard core training.
I started with baskeball shorts and a t-shirt and a do rag, then upped it to matchy, matchy NIKE outfits of a hat, capris, sneakers, and gloves and have now transitioned to a Nike/Lulu Lemon mix of clothing. My main thing is this: I HATE the feel of sweat; either rolling down my back or sticking to me, so i’m a big believer in wick-away technology and stuff that hides the stick long enough for me to get at least two wears out of it per week.
Will I ever transition to booty shorts? HIGHLY doubtful as my booty can outdo most chicks’ booty even on a bad day!
CrossFit requires a certain level of slimness and comfort in my clothes; I can’t do an handstand push up (even a progression) with my shirt constantly falling in my face, and I don’t feel comfortable doing a squat with booty shorts that scream “walking Y infection” so i go for middle ground. Bottomline is that I’m there to work; and I work hard. But I don’t mind looking a lil cute either…I’ve earned it.
Bahahaha Y infection! I always think about that when I see girls with short shorts on. Happy to know I’m not the only one with a brain that goes there.
*stink, not stick
Girl, perfect timing for this post! I was just in the gym this evening and what did I see right in front of me as I was hitting it hard on the treadmill…nothing but this other chick’s A$$ all out in front of me on an elliptical machine!
Ah hells no! I hate that shit. I’ve had to witness the same thing and it’s never fun. I feel bad for complain. Like, maybe they don’t have pants that fit. But again, it’s like…get some pants that fit.
Nice post!
I’ll do some Sport clothes shopping really soon, so it’s a good inspo
XO!

I need to do some sports shopping myself. My winter gym clothes are two years old! Pitiful.
Another concept we have in common. I have this crochet crop top I bought to motivate my six pack. Wearing it never occurred to me until I was spring cleaning. Wearing it is still a question. Maybe just once
I have pieces like that. Mine are mostly pants. No matter how slim I get, I never feel like I have the body to wear clingly/spandex pants. I go for it maybe 2 times a year, lol. Maybe this year they will become a staple.
My typical workout consists of black long pants, capri’s or running shorts (always black – I’m boring and need to buy some more with color!) then on top, a V-neck T
I’d love to wear Lululemon workout clothes but my wallet will just not allow it. I love your white V-neck. It’s very ‘boyfriend’ looking – I need to find some like this
I’m with you about Lululemon. They have nice stuff but so expensive. Even though working out is a big part of my life I still cringe over spending money on stuff I just wear to sweat (minus sneakers and music equipment).
wow its great post.
