Awards, Publication, and Something You May Want to Pick Up

Happy Monday, Fit pals! I hope you all had a bomb weekend. Some of you may recall that I’m now fitness reporting for InHue Magazine. Today is the official launch date and my article about CrossFit just got published. Please comment, like it, tweet it, whatever you social media gurus do. It would mean a lot to me, plus everyone at the magazine who is working so hard to get it off the ground.  Also, thanks so much to everyone who has been liking Fit is the New Black on Facebook and liking InHue. I can’t tell you enough how awesome all of you are. I know it sounds corny, but I seriously appreciate you guys and try to think of things that you would enjoy reading. I fantasize that one day I’ll be able to meet all of you and we can have a big blogger sort of party in NYC. Stranger things have happened, no?

A huge shot out to Phil at The Regular Guy NYC. If you haven’t checked out his blog you should. He’s seriously funny! Phil’s nominated me for the Liebster Blogger Award. Pretty sweet, right?

Thanks to Phil at The Regular Guy NYC for nominating me!

Thanks to Phil at The Regular Guy NYC for nominating me!

I’ve been nominated for this blog two times before and each time I’m totally honored. But damn, ya’ll! This award has mad rules and I don’t have time for that. Just like before, I nominate all of you who read and comment on my blog. Seriously, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! You all deserve it, so stick this award in a post and have at it. You’ve earned it.

Now you know I can’t leave you guys without some fitness or health tidbit to start your weeks off right. I’ll be posting a review of the workout with a friend challenge from Tribesports.com later this week, but today I’m thinking food. Well, a powder to be specific. Have you guys heard of Hemp Powder? It’s a wonderful plant protein that is FILLED with fiber.

My brand of choice.

My brand of choice.

I discovered hemp back when I was a junior in college and was switching from veggie to vegan.

Check me out, studying like a boss!

As you know, I’m a finicky eater and smoothies and protein shakes are my go to when I need nutrition but don’t feel like eating. Hemp powder can run between 80-120 calories per serving and pack between 8-12 grams of fiber. I can’t stress enough the importance of fiber, as if helps “rid” your body of stuff you don’t need, keep you full and generally happy. Truth be told, hemp isn’t very delicious, but if you mix it with almond milk, another-better tasting protein powder-and a banana, you have one banging drink.

Let me know if you’ve tried hemp powder before. And of course, let me know if you’ve read my article at InHue Magazine.

  4. 1. blogger party with you in NYC? Yes please!
    2. I’m going to read your article as soon as I finish typing this.
    3. I haven’t tried the powder but I eat hemp seeds all the time. I get a big bag from Raw Food World that lasts me all year (keep in fridge). And I sprinkle it on top of salads and in things like quinoa bowls. Tons of protein!

I should try that! I always see them at the health food store. Do I refrigerate them once they’re opened? And thanks so much for reading and commenting on my InHue story!!!!

      • Yes put them in the fridge once opened to keep them fresh and they will last a long time. There’s really no flavor either.
        And you are welcome! :)

  5. I’ve never heard of Hemp Powder but it is definitely something I’d be up for trying! I’ve been looking for ways of incorporating more fiber into my diet :)

Then you definitely should try this. I’d make chocolate hemp peanut butter shakes with almond milk and I’d be set. It’s super filling!
