Exercise.
Either you love it or don’t.
I’m a firm believer that no one truly hates working out. It’s more a matter of not finding the right routine. Follow my guide below to learn the workout that may get you excited to slip on your Nikes.
Personality Type: High Energy Tough Gal/Guy
Description: There is 24-hours in a day and you like to fill it with lots of activity. You loath staying still and find yourself fidgeting when forced to sit down.
Try: Cardio Kickboxing
Classes like BodyCombat (Gold’s Gym) or Boxing Bootcamp (Crunch) keep you moving and allow maximum energy to be expended. You’ll burn calories, tone up and gain strength.
Personality Type: Mellow Is As Mellow Does
Description: You gravitate to quiet places where you can center and refocus. You’re all about finding your inner calm.
Try: Yoga or Pilate based classes
Classes like willPower & Grace (24-Hour Fitness) and P.Y.T. (Pilates, Yoga and Thread; Crunch) have the relaxing vibe you crave but will strengthen core and lengthen limbs. These mind-body practices have come a long way so check around places like Yelp and Living Social to see some unique offers.
Personality Type: Lone Wolf
Description: You workout to escape the daily grind. You want to sweat and sweat alone.
Try: Running
Running is not as fancy as a boutique workout, but you like it that way. Workouts like running, swimming or biking allow you to set your own pace, burn energy and zone out. Perfect choice for the type who doesn’t like to workout with others.
Personality: The Romantic
Description: You want exercise to be fun and a bit sexy. Any workout that puts you in the mood or can be done with your partner peeks your interest.
Try: Pole-Dancing or Strength Moves for Two
Hitting the weights with your lovah is sexy (c’mon, all that grunting?) and many strength training moves can be adjusted to accommodate two. Think partner squats or sit-ups. If you rather go solo, try a class like Pole-orgraphy (Crunch) that teaches you how to work the pole while strengthening your arms and core. You’ll be getting in shape and looking damn good while doing it.
Personality: Stronger, Better, Faster
Description: You want muscle and you want it now. You don’t want help carrying squat!
Try: Workouts with strength & Cardio Combo
Classes that combines every aspect of fitness (cardio, strength and stretch) is your jam. Try Jillian Michaels BodyShred or SweatShop (Crunch) to combine weights with constant moving. You’ll get lean, toned and strong in one shot. Perfect for those who don’t want to be in workout clothes all day.
Let me know what’s your workout style. You don’t need to use the names above. Just tell me what workouts you prefer. Do you like to workout alone or in a group? Are you a treadmill slave or do you like pump up your muscles? Let me know below.

Haha, I must be a real fitness girl since I feel identified with all workout types: I love running, bodycombat, HIIT, I do yoga often, I weight lift with my boyfriend and I absolutely looove running. I can not decide!
Cyber high-five! That’s awesome! I think you can definitely take from all categories.
I’m a tough one – I have an ascending aortic aneurysm and no one can really tell me how to work out, other than walking is safe. No aerobics or anything to get heart rate up fast. My midsection is growing and I’m hating my body, but walking isn’t cutting it. What’s a person like me to do?
Have you seen a specialist about your condition? They should tell you what type of workout is acceptable. How is your diet?
Personality: Stronger, Better, Faster – this is me totally. I love lifting weights. I love feeling powerful, fit, toned and strong.
Yes, I do prefer working out alone . No partners for me as my schedule is all over the place.
I’m getting more into lifting weights myself. Whoa, I never thought I’d type those words.
I’m both High Energy and Lone Wolf. I love the outdoors.
Me too. I like being busy and when I workout, I’m super focused and want to be left alone.
I’m currently Better, Faster, Stronger but I used to be more Lone Wolf. It amazing how pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can make you realize something new about yourself.
So true! I use only be about cardio, but now I lift and even workout with my boyfriend from time to time.
